TOYOTA Australia is moving to take civil action against a former employee over millions of dollars it alleges were fraudulently obtained from the company and is seeking to recover not only the illicit funds but compensation as well.

GoAutoNews Premium has viewed court documents alleging that about $2.2 million has been misappropriated.

Toyota will allege that it has uncovered a scheme by a sales and marketing executive and outside suppliers where payments for goods and services that were never delivered or performed were fraudulently converted into private accounts.

Amongst the first steps in the recovery process is the listing of civil action by Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) where the company’s allegations against Barry John Money have been set down for a hearing in the NSW Supreme Court on April 26.

Mr Money, formerly the general manager of retail development at Toyota Australia, has left the company. The court documents say that Mr Money denies the allegations.
