Mitsubishi and PSA Peugeot Citroen study deal to co-develop electric micro-car

PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) have begun a feasibility study on “extended technical collaboration” that would lead to the development, manufacture and use of an electric powertrain in small city-cars.

The deal aims to “step up the viability” of electric vehicles and accelerate their introduction.

PSA claims to be the world’s largest manufacturer of electric vehicles, with more than 10,000 sales to date, while MMC is working on a new-generation electric version of its i-car, scheduled for release in Japan next year and, possibly, wider markets early next decade.
