50 Cent V8 is no small change

G8 V8: Modified Pontiac's LS7 could preview ballistic new HSV engine.

US rapper's custom-built Commodore-based Pontiac hints at a 7.0-litre V8 future

8 Nov 2007

AMERICAN rapper 50 Cent gave the Pontiac G8 a pre-launch boost by presenting his own custom version at the SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas last week.

The hip-hop star, who has already featured the Pontiac-badged Holden Commodore in a video clip, oversaw the modifications which have the car fitted with 22-inch chrome wheels, tinted tail-lights and windows, a red leather interior and, of course, a potent sound system.

The most interesting feature is the 7.0-litre LS7 V8, straight from the Corvette, nestled under the bonnet.

Its inclusion has been interpreted by some as a hint General Motors might be considering 7.0-litre performance G8 models, which would therefore make a similar model available for sale as a Holden.
