Beware PT windows

Give no quarter: Cruising in a PT could be hazardous.

Chrysler and Honda have taken action to prevent unlikely problems

27 Jun 2007

A BIZARRE recall notice has been issued for the Chrysler PT Cruiser: Due to inadequate fixing, one or both of the rear quarter windows could dislodge while driving.

According to Product Recalls Australia, the recall – which could place other road users and pedestrians at risk of injury – affects around 300 PT Cruisers built between 17 May 2005 and 1 September 2005 (but take in both 2005 and 2006 model years).

11 center imageHonda Australia also issued a recall last week for its 2006 model year Civic Hybrid (left), which could stall unexpectedly should a rear-seat passenger exert a large amount of force on the seatback.

This force could push the intelligent power unit (IPU) cover into contact with a power supply terminal, which in turn will cause the main power supply fuse to fail and could cause the engine to stall.

Additional protection for the terminal will be installed at the dealer, free of charge.
