TOYOTA has launched limited edition Corolla, Celica and MR2 Spyder models which adopt the Toyota Team Racing (TTR) logo and theme.
TTR is Toyota Australia's official motorsport operation, which participates in the Australian Rally Championship as well as preparing cars for production racing.
Canberra-based TTR will soon start offering performance kits for certain Toyota models, but for now the changes to these three cars are cosmetic.
Toyota claims the TTR Limited Edition range offers up to $3800 of extra value, but as an added incentive, the Celica and Spyder special editions are actually cheaper than the standard versions of the cars on which they are based.
Prices for the TTR Limited Edition range start at $20,988 recommended retail price for the TTR Corolla sedan and hatch with manual transmission.
The limited edition TTR Corolla is based on Corolla Ascent hatch and sedan that starts their pricing at $19,990. It has the choice of manual or automatic transmission. This model will be the entry level Corolla sports variant, complementing the Levin and Sportivo models.
TTR Corolla’s additional specification over Corolla Ascent includes alloy wheels, rear spoiler with high mount stop lamp, TTR emblem and body coloured exterior parts (side protection moulding, door handles and back door garnish).
The TTR Celica is based on the Celica SX and offered with manual and automatic transmission.
It has the added external features of 16x6-inch alloy wheels with 50 aspect ratio tyres, front foglights, and TTR emblem.
Inside, the limited edition model has air-conditioning, high grade trim, 'aluminium look' pedals and scuff plates. The TTR Celica also has ABS anti-skid brakes.
Prices for TTR Celica start at $39,988 recommended retail price for the six-speed manual transmission model, representing a claimed $3800 worth of additional value over Celica SX, which starts at $40,780.
The TTR Limited Edition MR2 Spyder has the additional features of black leather interior trim, air conditioning and TTR emblem.
It has a recommended retail price of $48,988, which represents a claimed $2700 worth of additional value over standard MR2 Spyder, which starts at $49,320.
Standard equipment in MR2 Spyder includes six-speed sequential manual transmission.
