New models - Renault - SymbiozRenault slashes Symbioz pricing by $4000Limited time offer prices Symbioz from $35,990 d/a as brand targets hybrid SUV buyers3 Oct 2026 By MATT BROGAN RENAULT Australia has cut $4000 from the driveaway price of its recently launched Symbioz small SUV range, bringing the European-built crossover down to as little as $35,990 d/a until the end of the year.
Available to private buyers until December 31, 2026, while stocks last, the campaign applies to all three Symbioz variants spanning mild- and full-hybrid powertrains.
The entry-level Symbioz Techno Mild Hybrid is now offered from $35,990 d/a, the Techno Full Hybrid from $41,990 d/a, and the flagship Esprit Alpine Full Hybrid from $45,990 d/a.
The reductions come only months after the Spanish-built Symbioz arrived in Australian showrooms, initially priced at $36,990 plus on-road costs for the Techno Mild Hybrid, $42,990 +ORC for the Techno Full Hybrid and $45,990 +ORC for the Esprit Alpine Full Hybrid.
Renault subsequently introduced campaign driveaway offers, including $39,990 for the Techno Mild Hybrid and $49,990 for the Esprit Alpine Full Hybrid, making the latest promotion a further $4000 reduction against those advertised offers.
Premium paint remains a $900 option on Techno variants but is included in the Esprit Alpine price.
Renault’s optional Solarbay panoramic glass roof remains available across the range for $2000.
Renault Australia general manager Glen Sealey said the revised pricing was intended to make the Symbioz more accessible amid cost-of-living and fuel-price pressures.
“We know Australians are doing it tough at the moment, and we want to be part of the solution,” he said.
“The new Renault Symbioz is able to deliver genuine fuel savings at a time when there is significant pressure on petrol prices.
“With this offer we are giving Australians an opportunity to buy a fuel-saving hybrid car with European design, handling and practicality in one of the most hotly contested segments of the new-car market.”
As previously reported by GoAuto, the Symbioz represents Renault Australia’s first full-hybrid offering and forms part of a wider product renewal program that includes six new models over an 18-month period.
The full-hybrid Techno and Esprit Alpine variants combine a naturally aspirated 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and 1.4kWh lithium-ion battery, producing combined outputs of 116kW and 265Nm.
Renault’s E-Tech multi-mode transmission uses separate ratios for the petrol and electric motors and offers more than 15 operating combinations designed to keep the combustion engine within its most efficient operating range.
The system prioritises electric propulsion when moving away from rest and can operate without the petrol engine for a significant proportion of stop-start urban driving, while regenerative braking replenishes the small traction battery during deceleration.
Official combined fuel consumption is 4.7 litres per 100km, with CO2 emissions of 107g/km, while Renault claims a driving range of up to 1000km under WLTP testing.
The cheaper Techno Mild Hybrid instead uses a turbocharged 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine assisted by a 12-volt mild-hybrid system. Outputs are 104kW and 245Nm, with drive sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
It consumes a claimed 6.4L/100km and emits 144g/km of CO2 on the combined WLTP cycle.
Measuring 4412mm long, 1797mm wide and 1567mm high on a 2639mm wheelbase, the Symbioz sits towards the larger end of the small SUV class and offers a sliding rear bench with 160mm of fore-aft adjustment.
Cargo capacity in the mild hybrid ranges from 563 litres with the rear seat in its rearmost position to 695 litres when slid forward, expanding to 1668 litres with the second row folded.
The full hybrid’s battery packaging reduces those figures to 460-, 592-, and 1546 litres respectively.
Standard Techno equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and reverse autonomous emergency braking, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and 10.4-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google built-in and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Esprit Alpine adds 19-inch alloy wheels, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, harman/kardon nine-speaker audio, powered hands-free tailgate, surround-view camera, and hands-free parking, along with model-specific interior and exterior detailing.
GoAuto found the Symbioz Full Hybrid impressively economical when sampled at its Australian launch, while noting the model enters an increasingly crowded field that includes the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, Hyundai Kona Hybrid, GWM Haval Jolion HEV, and newer Chinese contenders.
Renault backs the Symbioz with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, while the full hybrid’s traction battery is covered for eight years or 160,000km.
