HONDA Australia has introduced limited-edition +Sport grades of its Jazz and CR-V, with 240 examples of the light hatch and 900 units of the medium SUV available with bolstered equipment levels.

Kicking off at $20,590 before on-road costs, the Jazz +Sport sits $600 upstream from the VTi-S grade on which it is based, but Honda says the new grade is loaded with $1600 worth of extra gear.

The limited run Jazz gains rear parking sensors, 16-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, +Sport badging and darkened rear licence plate garnish, and that is on top of already standard features including a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with satellite navigation, keyless entry and LED headlights.

Like the rest of the Jazz range, it is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, developing 88kW of power and 145Nm of toque, sending power to the front wheels via a continuously-variable transmission (CVT).

Four exterior colours are available to Jazz +Sport buyers, including three pearlescent hues – White Orchid, Phoenix Orange and Crystal Black – and Rally Red.

Meanwhile, Honda has taken the entry-level, two-wheel-drive CR-V VTI as a basis for the $32,490 +Sport version, bundling $4100 worth of extras for a $1900 bump in price.

On top of the standard keyless entry, reversing camera and smartphone compatible infotainment system, +Sport grades gain 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, rear privacy glass, black sports grille, bespoke badging and Honda’s Lane Watch technology.

As with the Jazz, the CR-V +Sport is available in four colours, two metallic – Lunar Silver and Modern Steel – as well as two pearlescent – Passion Red and White Orchid.

Honda Australia director Stephen Collins said the latest +Sport variants continue the long line of limited-edition models from the Japanese car-maker, which have included the Civic Luxe, Red Edition and Orange Pack.

“As a brand, we will always have a line-up that is strong, excellent value-for-money and right for the Australian market, all built with the Honda DNA of world-class engineering, reliability and functionality,” he said.

“In between, where possible, we add in limited-edition models which have always been popular with our customers as they represent even better value for money for a limited time.

“I know our customers will once again see that value in our limited-edition Jazz +Sport and CR-V +Sport, both of which are on sale from today.”

To the end of May this year, Honda has found 1353 new homes for its Jazz light car, a 14.4 per cent jump over the same period in 2017.

Jazz is the third best-selling model in the sub-$25,000 light-car segment, trailing the Hyundai Accent (6841) and Mazda2 (4615).

The CR-V however, has increased its share by 169.4 per cent this year to 6810 sales, placing it as the best-selling Honda model in 2018.
