Holden slashes Berlina by $6500

World-class: Special-edition International version of Holden's Berlina is claimed to add $9500 of value.

New Berlina International limited-editions spell huge savings for Holden’s Commodore

16 Nov 2010

GM HOLDEN has released a special-edition Berlina International version of its Series II Commodore that will save buyers close to $10,000.

The new Berlina International will be available in both sedan and Sportwagon body styles priced at $36,990 and $38,990 drive-away respectively, representing a $6500 saving on the recommended retail prices of $43,490 and $45,490 – even before statutory and on-road costs are factored in.

Holden says both models, which also undercut the price of the entry-level VEII Commodore Omega ($39,990), include $9500 worth of extra standard equipment, including Onyx leather seat trim, four twin-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels and a rear-view camera.

Both models also come standard with prestige paint and, like the entry-level Berlina models, a 190kW 3.0-litre direct-injection SIDI V6 that returns fuel economy as low as 9.1L/100km and is compatible with E85 ethanol fuel.

“We think the Series II update to Commodore has made a great car even better by introducing smart multimedia technology, improved fuel economy and the capacity for certain models to run on environmentally friendly bio-ethanol,” said GM Holden director of marketing Philip Brook.

“The Berlina International models really build on the success of the Series II range by offering customers yet another smart-looking vehicle packaged up with a long list of features. At such a competitive price, we expect it to be a winner in our showrooms.” As with all Series II Commodores, the Berlina International also comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission, six airbags, electronic stability/traction control, ABS brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, electronic brake assist, the touch-screen Holden-iQ infotainment system with iPod integration, Bluetooth connectivity and four-way power driver’s seat adjustment.
