Driveaway pricing for Citroen Berlingo

Lighter load: Citroen has unloaded the on-road costs from its long-bodied Berlingo van, with diesel versions now priced driveaway.

Citroen Berlingo diesel priced from $26,000 driveaway ahead of 2016 model update

13 Oct 2015

CITROEN has sharpened the price of its Berlingo van with driveaway pricing now available for long-body versions, in preparation for a lightly refreshed version arriving in the first half of next year.

With the runout offer, manual versions of the 1.6 HDi start at $26,000, while the semi-automatic now costs $30,000, but Citroen is offering small businesses more savings with a $500 fuel voucher.

The offer will run until October 31 or until stocks last and the French car-maker says customers will save between $4551 and $4671 when combined with the fuel offer and when based on New South Wales on-road costs.

That saving equates to the equivalent of 72,000km of motoring costs when in the semi-automatic or about 60,000km for customers opting for the manual Berlingo, according to Citroen.

Entry-level 1.6-litre short-body Berlingos were priced at $20,990 before on-road costs, but local stock has sold out before the driveaway deal was finalised.

Citroen Australia sales manager Shaun Mackle said the limited offer would put the Berlingo on more small business and owner-operator's shopping lists, ahead of a lightly refreshed version arriving next year.

“The Citroen Berlingo revolutionised the light van segment when it first launched almost 20 years ago, and today it continues to offer innovative and smart thinking in the light commercial market,” he said.

“Driveaway pricing will certainly put Berlingo on the radar of those that may not have considered a Citroen before, while allowing them to save money in the process.”

The Berlingo sub-2.5 tonne light-commercial van is Citroen's best-selling model this year, chalking up 230 sales year to date, and competes against the segment leader Volkswagen Caddy with 1591 registrations, Renault Kangoo (879) and Suzuki APV (408).

Both manual and auto Berlingos share a 66kW/215Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, matched to either five-speed manual gearbox or six-speed automated manual with paddle shifters.

Citroen claims a combined average fuel consumption of 4.7 litres per 100 kilometres – a litre less than the five-speed manual.
