SUBARU unveiled a limited-edition (300 units) STi-specified Liberty, based on the 2.5-litre GT Spec-B model, at this week's Melbourne motor show.

Although the show car is a prototype, the production version will gain an uprated GT Spec-B engine, developing 194kW at 6000rpm and 350Nm at 2800rpm, a 10kW and 11Nm lift over the standard GT Spec-B.

In keeping with its performance attributes the Liberty STi gains 18-inch lightweight alloys, Pirelli P-Zero tyres, Brembo brakes, Bilstein sports-tuned suspension as well as revisions to the suspension components that deliver better steering response and improved ride and handling.

Automatic models gain a revised transmission control unit for faster shifting, and an STi sports exhaust system has been added.

Inside, the cabin gains alcantara trim, 14-speaker McIntosh audio system and Subaru’s switchable SI-Drive system.

Prices start from $65,990 for the six-speed manual sedan and $67,990 for the manual wagon.
