GENESIS Australia has revealed the full specification details of its upcoming GV70 SUV range with four variants set to be offered Down Under however local pricing is still yet to be determined.

Set to be launched in the second quarter of this year, all GV70s will be offered with the same standard equipment list regardless of variant or powertrain with the latter being the biggest point of difference across the range, as per the bigger GV80 and related G80 sedan.

As a result, the Australia-bound GV70s will touch down with a leather interior, 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, satellite navigation with life traffic updates and DAB+ digital radio, wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, a nine-speaker sound system, adjustable ambient lighting, 12-way power adjustable front seats with heating and cooling functions, reclining and split-folding rear seats, remote start, powered tailgate and a panoramic sunroof.

Those wanting more gear on their GV70 can opt for the Sport Line package which ups the visual prowess through the addition of black and dark chrome body features and a more aggressive bodykit as well as a Sport+ drive mode and a heap of sporty interior touches like suede-appointed upholstery, sports pedals, sports steering wheel and sports trim.

Given its much more potent engine – details below – the 3.5T AWD comes with this pack included as part of the standard equipment.

Above the Sport Line package is the Luxury package which adds more comfort and convenience-minded niceties like a 12.3-inch digital cockpit, 21-inch alloy wheels, 18-way power adjustable driver’s seat with massage function, a head-up display and 16-speaker 1050W Lexicon by Harman audio system just to name a few.

The list of standard safety gear meanwhile very nearly reads as long as the standard equipment list with Genesis clearly not skimping when it comes to both occupant and other road-user safety.

Eight airbags (including centre side), an active bonnet, blind-spot collision avoidance-assist, a blind-spot view monitor, driver attention warning, forward collision-avoidance assist, high beam assist, intelligent speed limit assist, lane following assist, lane keeping assist, multi collision brake, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance-assist, rear occupant warning, safe exit assist, adaptive cruise control, surround-view monitor and trailer stability assist are all included straight out of the box.

As previously reported by GoAuto, the GV70 utilises the same petrol and diesel powertrains as the rest of the updated Genesis portfolio with three different mills set to be available.

Powering the 2.5T and 2.5T AWD will be a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine good for 224kW/422Nm, all of which is sent to the rear- and all four wheels respectively via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

That eight-speed self-shifter is the only option in all four variants, and in the case of the 2.2D AWD, is hooked up to a 154kW/440Nm turbocharged 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel mill, distributing drive to all four wheels.

Powering the 3.5T AWD meanwhile at the top of the range is a twin-turbo 3.5-litre petrol V6 developing an X3 M40i-baiting 279kW/530Nm.

With the arrival of the GV70 range now only a matter of months away, Genesis Australia CEO Jun Heo said the brand was delighted to be revealing the local specifications and that the new model would “deliver unprecedented luxury”.

Buoyed by the arrival of the bigger GV80 large SUV and G80 sedan late last year, Genesis is off to a flying start to 2021 with sales up 186.7 per cent so far this year ending February compared to the same period last year (43 vs 15).
