Super TestCar reviews - Toyota - Camry - Altise V6 sedanToyota modelsEngine24 Oct 2002 By BRUCE NEWTON THE powerplant in the V6 Altise is the familiar 2995cc unit, which is carried over virtually unchanged from the old 660T Camry. A quad-cam 24-valve with the cylinders banked at 90 degrees, it is now available in two slightly different configurations. The Altise and Ateva get the unchanged 141kW/279Nm unit, while the higher-spec Azura and Sportivo get a version boosted by 4kW and 5Nm courtesy of the variable muffler passed over from the Avalon sister-car. It should be noted the quad-cam design actually uses a scissor gear, which means the exhaust cams drive the inlet cams via gears, rather than the latter working off the timing belt driven by the crankshaft. Did you know?Claimed fuel consumption for the auto Altise V6 is 6.8L/100km on the highway cycle and 10.5L/100km on the city cycle, the latter being a 0.5 litre improvement thanks to retuning and calibration to meet Step II emissions regulationsAll car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen |
