Car reviews - Renault - Scenic - RX4 Expression
26 Jul 2001
RX4 rides on 215/65 R16 98H Michelin 4x4 tyres attached to 6.5J x 16 five-spoke steel wheels. The full-size wheel is mounted externally at the centre of the rear tailgate - giving it off-road credence and not precipitating too much effort for users as power assistance is provided for the door section. Privilege models gain a body-coloured wheel cover made from composite material. The addition of a new sub-frame in place of the Scenic's four-bar suspension required modification of the floor in the area of the luggage compartment. As a result, the spare wheel well was eliminated, replaced by a small cavity which houses the jack and the wheel brace adapted to the 4WD model.
