Car reviews - Nissan - Patrol - Ti 5-dr wagon
8 Mar 2002
AS the range-topper in the Patrol line-up, the Ti comes fitted with a comprehensive safety package that includes frontal and side airbags for front-seat occupants, and anti-lock brakes. The centre position in row two is the only to use an inferior lap belt and go without a head restraint. While the trend with smaller four-wheel drives is toward a monocoque chassis construction, Patrol continues with a strong separate chassis designed for tough off-road work but which is less highly regarded for its performance in a crash. Having said that, independent studies have shown large vehicles such as the Patrol do actually protect their occupants quite well in the event of a collision with another vehicle, however, they also create a significantly higher risk of injury for other people.
