Road TestCar reviews - Nissan - Navara - ST-R TDi dual-cab utilityNissan modelsSuspension28 Jul 2003 ALL NAVARA 4x4 models share the same suspension attributes. Nissan, like most others, uses an independent double wishbone configuration with torsion bar springs and an anti-roll bar at the front, and a rigid axle with leaf springs and heavy duty overriders on the rear. ST-R and DX 4x4 models get a limited-slip rear differential and a final drive ratio of 4.375 with either engine. Manual free-wheeling hubs are fitted to the front axles. Navara 4x4s have a ground clearance of 215mm, an overall height of 1700mm and require a 12.0-metre turning circle. The approach and departure and angels are adequate though these are reduced considerably by the rear-step bumper on the ST-R models. Bash plates under the vehicle are fitted but not up to the standard of a HiLux, which is seriously well protected.
