Car reviews - Hyundai - Veloster - SR Turbo
A subtle facelift has matured the Hyundai Veloster and made it more desirable
25 Jan 2016
ONLY the geekiest of car fans will be able to identify a facelifted 2015 Hyundai Veloster from the 2012 original. You’d have to look hard to identify the meaner-looking grey grille surround, wider restyled alloy wheels and absence of faux bonnet vents.
Interior changes are limited to a crisper central touchscreen, updated instruments, a contrast-stitched steering wheel and coloured seatbelts, while the real updates are under the skin, comprising suspension re-tuned in Australia and the option of a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
But it’s the new sub-$30K entry point to turbo-boosted Veloster variants that will change things most on the showroom floor. We drove an SR manual for a week – and reckon it’s the sweet-spot of Hyundai’s coupe range.
