Hyundai’s stylish ’30’ Special Edition SUVs celebrate three decades in Australia
2 Sep 2016
CAN you believe Hyundai has had a presence in the Australian automotive market for 30 years?
You would be forgiven if not, because the South Korean car-maker has changed immeasurably in the three decades, from a nervous price-driven brand that many scoffed at, to a mature, high-quality range of vehicles with sharp styling and features lists to worry the Europeans.
The thriving company we see today could almost be a completely different brand from the one that launched in 1986, such is the transformation.
Hyundai is justifiably proud of its evolution from ugly duckling to fully fledged swan and is marking the significant milestone with a pair of special editions based on the Tucson and Santa Fe SUVs.
We put them to the test on a road trip to New South Wales’ snow fields.
