PERHAPS Hyundai's first segment winner, the striking (some say crazily styled) Coupe really put the frighteners on the laurel-resting Toyota Celica in the mid-to-late 1990s, toppling it from the top of the sales charts after exposing it as the over-priced and under-performing Camry coupe that it was. Any gains in refinement and dynamic ability the '99-'02 Coupe made was lost on the public because of the way it looked.
