HOLDEN’S medium sedan track record is at best colourful, and at worst woeful. Torana, Sunbird, Camira, Apollo, Vectra, Epica: it’s a roll call of mostly failed attempts at taking on a class that may as well be called Camry Country. It begs the question about how committed the company has been fielding a Camry competitor when Commodore sales had long been so strong. But with large car sales evaporating, that’s all changed now, and suddenly the General has had to get serious – really serious, as the $28,490 Malibu CD’s exceptional pricing proves. But is it any good?
