The new Audi A6 Allroad is a capable SUV compromise, but it will cost you
16 Oct 2012
THE Audi A6 Allroad has returned to Australian roads after an absence of more than a year with the launch of the new third-generation model.
Just 150 examples will come here, powered exclusively by an uprated 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine and priced more than $14,000 higher than the old one – counterbalanced, says Audi, by a substantially longer list of standard features.
Pitched as a niche model aimed at buyers looking for something outside the traditional SUV mould, the Allroad offers passenger car dynamism on the road and respectable ability off it, and perhaps more importantly it looks the business while doing it.
However, with a list price $27,500 higher than the full-size Audi Q7 SUV with a similar 3.0 TDI engine and a swag full of extra-cost options on top, the value equation is questionable.
