Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLS recalled

Transmission software issue detected, recall issued for Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLS SUVs

26 Mar 2024

MERCEDES-BENZ Australia Pacific has issued a recall notice for its GLE-Class and GLS-Class SUV models manufactured between 2019 and 2023.

The notice affects some 4837 vehicles and relates to a software error within the transmission control module that may result in the transmission failing to downshift under certain operating conditions.

As the issue may result in a sudden loss of engine power, the recall is deemed to affect vehicle safety, with the Australian government’s Vehicle Recalls website stating that such an occurrence may increase the risk of an accident and injury or death to vehicle occupants and / or other road users.

It is recommended that owners of affected vehicles contact their preferred Mercedes-Benz dealership as soon as possible to have the issue rectified free of charge. Alternatively, owners may contact the Mercedes-Benz Australia Pacific Customer Assistance Centre on 1300 762 718.
