IT LOOKS to be a 200SX replacement, but Nissan remains uncommitted to its Foria concept – the star of its Aussie motor show stand yesterday.
Conceived by Nissan’s international design studio, the Foria is a compact sports coupe designed as a driver’s car with a touch of elegance.
It uses a "mid-sized" engine that drives the rear wheels via a paddle-shift automatic transmission.
Another mechanical highlight is a four-wheel Active Steer system. In true sports touring tradition, the front-engine/rear-drive layout allows a short front overhang, long hood and compact cabin.
Exterior styling combines sporty curves with elegant lines, set off with 18-inch alloys positioned at the car's four corners.
The integrated grille and headlight treatment is becoming a Nissan trademark while the high waistline is designed to convey a sophisticated image.
The Foria also boasts "suicide" doors in the fashion of the Mazda RX-8. The interior design is handcrafted with a sports flare.
