Suzuki / Swift / Sport CVT 5-dr hatch
THE charming little Suzuki Swift Sport is not the most technologically advanced or speedy hot hatch on the market, instead holding its own through sheer force of personality.
As a spiritual successor to the cult-classic Swift GTi from the early-1990s, the Swift Sport also draws on the brand’s long experience in the Junior World Rally Championship.
We were big fans of the car when we first drove it at the launch in February of this year.
However, that car had a manual gearbox, and our drive was on a racetrack.
This time, though, we drive the optional CVT automatic with paddle shifters in more modest inner-urban environs.
Model release date: February 2012

SUZUKI Australia released the first-generation Swift Sport in 2006, adding a splash of sportiness to its already highly competent light-car.
Peak power from the buzzy 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine was 92kW – 17kW higher than the garden-variety variants - matched exclusively to a quick-shifting five-speed manual gearbox.
The Sport warm-hatch was further differentiated from its more humble stablemates by a sporting body kit, additional equipment and aggressive cabin accoutrements like a stainless steel gear knob and pedals.
