Porsche’s new 911 GT3 price goes up $25,000, thanks mostly to LCT

PORSCHE Cars Australia has confirmed a price of $281,600 for its upgraded 911 GT3 coupe, first deliveries of which will take place in late January.

The official list price, which excludes dealer delivery and statutory charges, is lineball with the projected figure of $282,000 announced at last week’s Australian launch.

PCA says the increase in the federal government’s luxury car tax rate, which was lifted from 25 to 33 per cent since the previous 997-generation GT3 ($256,900) was sold in Australia, contributes the lion’s share of the $24,700 price rise.

As we reported last week, a 200cc-larger 3.8-litre flat six – the first to be fitted with VarioCam variable valve timing for both the inlet and exhaust valves – is also partly responsible for the higher price, as is a host of cosmetic, aerodynamic, chassis and equipment upgrades.

About 20 Australians have already put their names down for the new GT3, between 80 and 90 examples of which have been allocated locally.
