Daimler students build bold F-Cell Roadster concept that blends old and new

DAIMLER AG trainees have a developed a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle that harks back to the Benz Patent Motor Car of 1886.

More than 150 students at the Sindelfingen Mercedes-Benz plant contributed to the boldly styled F-Cell Roadster.

The students were responsible for the overall concept, development, assembly and completion of the concept car.

The F-Cell Roadster uses the latest technology, including a 1.2kW fuel cell that generates enough energy to propel it to a top speed of 25km/h. It has drive-by-wire steering operated with a joystick.

It also has fibreglass nosecone inspired by the latest Formula One cars, and large narrow wheels harking back to the original Benz.
