Audi / A6 / Avant 5-dr wagon range
Overview
LIKE the generations that preceded it, Audi’s new A6 Avant is a bona fide alternative to the established medium-large European load-luggers from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
With two competitive V6 petrol engines, an array of cutting-edge equipment, the latest safety features, impressive refinement and build quality that’s now arguably the benchmark in its class, the latest A6 Avant makes a persuasive argument for families that are prepared to pay for a top-class German estate car.
Model release dates: July 2005 - February 2009
Previous model
Audi’s previous-generation A6 Avant went on sale in Australia in October 1998, less than 12 months after the new A6 sedan arrived here. The two-variant range comprised the front-drive 2.4, powered by a 121kW/230Nm 2.4-litre V6 (at a launch price of $83,600), and the 2.8 quattro – powered by a 142kW/280Nm 2.8-litre V6 (first priced at $103,650). The 331kW/560Nm turbo V8-equipped RS6 quattro Avant was also part of the family from October 2003, priced at a cool $225,100.
