FPV releases upgraded, repriced range based on facelifted FG MkII Falcon

FORD Performance Vehicles has released an upgraded model range based on the Blue Oval’s newly facelifted FG MkII Falcon line-up, bringing more standard technology, minor exterior cosmetic updates and lower six-cylinder prices.

Headlining the interior upgrade as standard across the 2012 range is the Falcon’s new Interior Command Centre (ICC) comprising a larger eight-inch colour touch-screen infotainment system, which comes with satellite-navigation and SUNA traffic alerts on top-shelf GT-E, GT-P and F6-E models.

All FPV models are now also fitted with a USB input that allows playback of memory sticks, flash drives and external powered hard drives via the sound system, while GS sedan and ute models gain an alarm and prestige audio system as standard.

GS, F6, GT and GT-P models receive a reversing camera from the GT-E and F6-E, with the GS sedan also scoring rear parking sensors and both the GS and F6 utes now offering a sports bar as standard.

FPVGT center imageOn the outside, all FGII FPVs feature a new lighting package with “precision design” projector headlights with black bezels, while F6 models step up with premium five-spoke Graphite alloy wheels.

Finally, entry-level GS variants are differentiated by a new “more purposeful” front fascia and bumper design featuring winglets and more pronounced sculpting around the lower griller and new-look chrome/silver foglights, while both the upper and lower grilles get recessed black mesh.

Base FPV pricing remains at $52,990 plus on-road costs (ute) and $57,990 (sedan - $2700 more than Holden’s Commodore SS-V sedan) for the range-opening GS, which continues to be powered by a 315kW/545Nm supercharged 5.0-litre V8.

The more powerful 335kW/575Nm GT also continues unchanged at $71,290 ($1300 more than HSV’s $69,990 ClubSport R8), although the mid-range GT-P is $1000 pricier than before at $82,540 and the auto-only GT-E flagship costs an extra $450 at $82,990.

Turbocharged six-cylinder F6 models are also mechanically unchanged (and still belt out 310kW and 565Nm), but are now $3000 more affordable than before $55,990 (ute) and $64,890 (sedan), while the flagship F6-E auto sedan now costs $76,940 (down $2800).

“The performance car market in Australia is highly competitive and so naturally we are thrilled to be able to increase the standard specification offerings on all our vehicles,” said FPV general manager Rod Barrett.
