Honda recalls 1424 Odyssey people-movers due to potential ignition switch failure

Honda Australia has issued a safety recall for more than 1400 examples of its previous-generation Odyssey people-mover because of a potential ignition switch defect.

The safety recall was issued yesterday (June 15) by Honda Motor Co for Odyssey, CR-V and Step Wagon models manuafactured between October 1994 and May 1997.

In Australia, the recall affects 775 examples of the 1995 Odyssey and 649 examples of the 1996 model, totalling 1424 vehicles.

The recall aims to fix a potential ignition switch failure, which may cause the engine to stall and, in extreme cases, hot solder to fall onto the driver's leg.

No cases of ignition switch failure have been reported in Australia.

In accordance with the FCAI code of practice, owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail, before having their ignition switch replaced at no cost.
