Cadillac claims Nurburgring production sedan lap record with its stonking CTS-V

A WEEK after Nissan achieved a blistering lap time of seven minutes and 29 seconds for its new GT-R coupe at the benchmark Nordschleife circuit of the Nurburgring in Germany – becoming the third-fastest production car behind the Porsche Carrera GT (7:28.0) and Pagani Zonda F (7:27.8) – Cadillac has claimed to have recorded the fastest time for a production sedan with its CTS-V.
Powered by a thumping 410kW/745Nm 6.2-litre supercharged V8, the unmodified V-spec CTS reportedly completed the lap in 7:59.32.
Cadillac’s director of vehicle integration John Heinricy piloted the high-performance sedan as part of its final stages of development.
Restricted to left-hand drive production for the foreseeable future, the CTS-V will not be arriving as part of Cadillac’s relaunch in Australia, which commences in the fourth quarter with the CTS in 227kW/370Nm 3.6-litre V6 guise.
A 250kW/550Nm 2.9-litre V6 turbo-diesel variant will be available soon after.
