WITH the first four months of Australia’s allocation already sold, Fiat Australia has taken the unusual step of announcing full pricing and specifications for its new three-door Fiat 500 hatch, first examples of which are still nearly three months away.
Prices start at $22,990 for the Fiat 500 Pop 1.2 (five-speed) manual, with a Dualogic transmission adding $2000 at $24,990 – the same price as the 500 Pop 1.4 (six-speed) manual, which ups peak power from 51kW to 74kW.
Both the Pop 1.4 Dualogic and 500 Sport 1.4 manual cost $26,990 ($1000 more than the 500 Pop 1.3 JTD turbo-diesel, which offers 55kW, a new combined fuel consumption record of just 4.2L/100km and a five-speed manual only), with the 500 Sport 1.4 Dualogic priced at $28,990.
The Sport adds a “Luxury Pack”, 15-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, side skirts, red brake calipers and a leather-clad steering wheel and gearshifter to the 500’s basic Pop menu, which comprises seven airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, power front windows, trip computer, remote central locking and air-conditioning, and comes with a five-star Euro ENCAP crash test rating.
The top-shelf Lounge 1.4 grade costs $27,990 (Dualogic: $29,990) and adds, as standard, a fixed sunroof, satin-finish aluminium exterior mirrors, chrome trim pack, climate-control.
Leather trim is a $1450 option across the range, as is metallic or pastel paint ($750), 16-inch alloy wheels (Sport/Lounge only) and a range of exterior body decals, including a chequered roof ($650).
