THE Proton Persona is basically a 1992-1996 Mitsubishi Lancer revised, adapted and built in Malaysia to provide a lower priced alternative to Japanese cars.

Thus it inherits both strengths and weaknesses of the Mitsubishi but offers a more tempting price.

Competent but uninspiring, it needs the price advantage to make the grade.
