Firm stand: Bill Osborne does not see how emissions and the luxury car tax are linked.
Ford boss not impressed by Mercedes carbon tax proposal

FORD Australia boss Bill Osborne was surprised to hear of the Mercedes-Benz Australia 'carbon tax' proposal (as reported in GoAuto last week) because all of the local car companies had agreed to support the FCAI position of backing the government's emissions trading scheme.
“I'm not sure why they [Mercedes-Benz] would break from that position,” said Mr Osborne.
He also said that the Mercedes proposal was “a little too complex” and, while he also opposes the luxury car tax, he does not see the two issues as being linked.
