Ford / Laser / LXi 5-dr hatch
Overview
DESPITE some earnest work on both front and rear ends, there is no questioning
the Ford Laser's connection with the latest Mazda Astina.
Inside, only the
badges advise you which car you are driving.
The Laser is a well-packaged car
with peppy engines and an intriguing standard equipment choice -
air-conditioning and driver's airbag are there but there are no power windows
or mirrors, or central locking.
Model release dates: March 1999 - August 2002

Previous model
The front-drive, Mazda 323-based Laser once ruled the small car class. The move
to full importation shifted Ford's focus away from the car as a volume seller.
Three and 5-door hatch, and a 4-door sedan were offered. Two twin-cam
4-cylinder engines were available - a 1.6-litre and a 1.8-litre.
